Navigating the World of AI

Meyer Turku, a leading global cruise ship manufacturer, is exploring how artificial intelligence can support long-term goals around sustainability and operational efficiency. As part of a multi-year Necoleap project focused on achieving carbon-neutral shipbuilding, Meyer Turku partnered with ATR Soft and our Business AI service to identify, evaluate, and pilot practical AI use cases across the organization.

When Meyer Turku started the Business AI service, the aim was to take a structured and business-driven approach to exploring AI’s role in their long-term innovation strategy. This work is closely linked to their broader objective of enabling carbon-neutral shipbuilding.

During the collaboration, we delivered a comprehensive series of AI use case analyses tailored to Meyer Turku’s operations, pain points, and development priorities. The analyses covered a range of topics, from traditional machine learning methods such as optimization and anomaly detection to emerging generative AI applications for document processing and internal knowledge access.

One notable feature of the project has been the diversity of input across departments. Rather than being led solely by IT or digital teams, ideas for use cases came from multiple functions throughout the organization. Business AI’s structured framework made it easy for Meyer Turku to propose ideas and equally straightforward for us to assess their feasibility and provide recommendations for tooling and proof-of-concept planning.

“The Business AI service has successfully bridged business and AI expertise in an agile and effective way“, says Markus Lehtopohja, VST Development Project Manager in Meyer Turku.

“We’ve been able to confidentially address business requirements and received well-targeted analyses to support decision-making“, adds Kaisa Jussila, Solution Expert in Meyer Turku.

Markus and Kaisa have worked together on Meyer Turku’s Necoleap project, collaborating closely with our Business AI service team.

In parallel with the analytical work, we have also held AI training sessions for over 100 participants. These sessions have played an important role in building foundational awareness and understanding across teams, helping Meyer Turku prepare for broader, long-term adoption of AI solutions.

Based on the most promising opportunities identified, Meyer Turku is now moving forward with selected proof-of-concept projects. The cooperation has strengthened both technical insight and organizational readiness.

Working with Meyer Turku has given us valuable visibility into the realities of industrial-scale transformation. Our role has been to support that journey with practical, business-oriented AI, aligned with Meyer Turku’s pace, priorities, and long-term goals.

Today, Meyer Turku has built a clearer internal understanding of AI’s potential and is equipped with a roadmap for further development.
